A little bit about myself...
My name is Cristina Macklem, and I grew up in Connecticut. I am extremely passionate about the outdoors and sustainability. I am an avid runner, hiker, and rock climber, and I built my own tiny house so that I can truly "practice what I preach." I have always loved studying biology, ecology, and wildlife, and spent my academic tenure pursuing those interests. Along the way I have been able to travel, research, and study in New England, the Pacific northwest, the Rockies, the Midwest, Costa Rica, and South Africa. I also attended the historical COP 21 meeting in Paris where 196 countries agreed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to prevent global warming of greater than 1.5 degrees Celsius.
